Desexing is a vital component of routine prevention for your pet. Some of the conditions that can be prevented by early desexing of male and female dogs includes;
- Pyometra: a life threatening uterine infection

- Unwanted litters: Cats are prolific breeders due to the fascinating way they breed. Did you know that cats are on heat every 3 weeks but if they mate with a tom when on heat, the mating stimulates the female to ovulate and rarely if ever will they not become pregnant? Its pretty much guaranteed with this procedure! This is why we suggest desexing before 6 months of age when females typically will first come on heat.
- Unwanted behaviours: Fighting is one of the major problems especially with entire male cats. Fighting can increase the likelihood of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (also known commonly as cat AIDS) greatly. Males who are not desexed are also more likely to stray in search of females on heat as well as to fight. They also spray more often inside homes and around the home to ward off other males and attract females.
